HAZELMERE DAM INFLOW SPIKE AFTER HEAVY RAIN- HAZELMERE DAM WATER CRISIS

Heavy rain spiked the Hazelmere dam inflow this past week. On the 27th of February 2017 the Hazelmere dam went past 95%. It is now more than three months since I made my previous video on the Hazelmere dam called “HAZELMERE DAM AT EXCITING TEMPORARY MAX.” I tend to visit the dam every time after we had some significant rain because then we obviously have something to talk about. The past week or so prior to the 23rd of February 2017, we had lots of rain over large parts of the country in the wake of the tropical cyclone Dineo that caused quite a bit of damage in Mozambique. Here is the progress of the dam level since the 10th of February 2017 (courtesy Umgeni Water): DATE DAM LEVEL RAINFALL AT DAM(24 HOURS) 10 Feb 2017 63.85 % 0.0mm 13 Feb 2017 63.24 % 0.0mm 14 Feb 2017 64.3 % 60.0mm 21 Feb 2017 68.76 % 20.2mm (definitely much more inland) 22 Feb 2017 71.86 % 40.6mm (definitely much more inland) 23 Feb 2017 81.46 % 20.0mm 24 Feb 2017 87.89 % 1.0mm 27 Feb 2017 95.79 % 0.0mm The construction company is still busy constructing piano key weirs on the top of the dam to feed the ogee spillway. Apparently, construction is now expected to be finished by September of 2017.
